Naturally, people who are accustomed to a certain type of bed, like to know what to expect on Ireland Vacations.

Not only is there a difference in the size of beds but there is also a very distinct difference in the terminology used on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

For example, a Kingsize bed in Ireland or the UK approximates to a Queensize bed in the USA. A considerably different bed!!!

Room Types in Ireland

The terminology relating to room types can also cause confusion. When you stay at a hotel, B&B or Self catering vacations rental in Ireland, the following definitions apply to room types:

  • Single Room: A room for 1 person, normally with a Single bed but sometimes with a double bed
  • Double Room: A room for two people sharing 1 bed
  • Twin Room: Room for 2 people with separate beds (normally 2 x single beds)
  • Triple Room: Room for 3 people
  • Superior or Deluxe Room: A larger room but not necessarily with a larger bed
