This peaceful haven in the West Cork countryside, at the end of a
leafy lane four miles west of the village of Schull , is a romantic get-
away-from-it-all for two people. It is surrounded by pastureland and
the most commonly heard sound is birdsong.
The comfortable cottage is a converted stable and dairy with high, beamed ceiling and deep stone walls. It has been finished and furnished with an attractive combination of traditional style and modern convenience, including wood-burning stove, gas central heating, microwave, dishwasher, TV, dvd, sound system, and a well-stocked library for rainy days.
The sunroom and private patio/garden look west to Three Castles Head, Sheeps Head, Dunmanus Bay (two miles away) and the sunset. The loft bedroom's main window, on the other hand, looks east to the sunrise beyond Mount Gabriel.
The owners' home, a west-Cork dormer farmhouse, stands 20 meters away on the other side of the courtyard. Each house looks to an opposite direction, across its own view and private garden.
Other facilities: baby's cot available if needed. An overnight laundry service can be provided by the owners if required.
An excellent cycling area with many good walks, including Three Castles Head, Sheeps Head and Barleycove .
The freshest swimming is in Dunmanus Bay, with more popular family
beaches at Ballyrisode and Barleycove.
Ferries sail from Schull, Turk Head and Baltimore to the islands of
Roaringwater Bay, good opportunites for day trips.
A variety of restaurants and cafes are within easy reach, from Goleen
to Schull and Ballydehob.
