Waterford Castle Golf Club

Waterford Castle Golf Club is the only true island course in Ireland, situated in the estuary of the River Suir. The waterway to the Port of Waterford helps to complete the ambience as shipping and pleasure vessels make their leisurely way past the Island.

The course is laid out on gently undulating land and offers stunning views from all parts of the course.

With sand-based tees and greens and a full irrigation system to tees, greens and fairways, the course also features many mature plantations, a number of artificial lakes, to add to the beautiful parkland setting, and super bunkering, strategically placed to test the long hitter. Highlights of the hole include the 3rd called the Bridge of Sighs and the 16th called Des's Favourite. Building of the course was completed in the Autumn of 1991 with the formal public opening taking place in September of that year. The quality of the finished product was immediately evident and received very favourable comment from many informed sources.

"The ducks, geese, and swans on the river with the mist rising over it was something out of the movies. And the sunset over the river...incredible." (Guest Review)
