History

Belfast is famous as the city to have built Titanic and the introduction in 2012 of the new Titanic Belfast visitor attraction is a must see - both for the architecture and experience.

There is much history of Titanic but with regards to her build, this happened 1909-1911 at the Harland and Wolff Shipyard, Titanic was built for the British Shipping Company White Star Line and was one of three Olympic Class ocean liners commissioned by White Star Line.

Although it has taken some 100 years for the Titanic Belfast visitor attraction to come to fruition, this centurial celebration year, Belfast City is celebrating the achievement of the engineering of Titanic, as well as telling some of the unknown stories of the men who built and sailed on her, the tragic maiden voyage, the undersea exploration and much more at the spectacular state of the art visitor experience.

titanic-belfast.jpgTitanic Belfast is the world largest Titanic visitor experience, and it opened on 31st March 2012 changing the Belfast skyline, as you drive over the Lagan Bridge or along the historic Queen’s Road in the heart of the former shipyard. This phenomenal piece of architecture in the North of Ireland, is a must see on any visit, holiday, or vacation to Ireland and is the cause of much excitement amongst visitors and locals.

Designed to mirror Titanic’s build in shape, height and positioning, and with the architecture resembling the hulls of four ships, the building is clad in metal shards, creates the illusion of movement of water when the light plays on them and from above it is said that the building resembles a white star, the symbol of Titanic’s operators.

A new visitor attraction to Ireland, this with many other fantastic suggestions; including other Titanic 2012 Events and must see visitor attractions, can be tailored specifically to your holiday or honeymoon in Ireland , or included as part of your Group Tours to Ireland and escorted coach tours Ireland .
