The Cut Lough Lene Beach, located in Westmeath

A small beach on the freshwater lake of Lough Lene. The beach is close to Nure Bog an example of a relatively intact raised bog habitat, which is a Natural Heritage Area. Lough Lene is located in North Westmeath between the villages of Castlepollard and Collinstown. This large limestone lake has extensive shallows and gin-clear water. Public access to Lough Lene is at the area known as The Cut on the eastern shore, near the village of Collinstown. Life-guards are on duty during the peak times. Lifebuoys are provided for emergency use.
